On 3-7 November, 2019 the 28th ICDE World Conference in Online Learning took place in Dublin in the Convention Centre, hosted by the National Institute for Digital Learning (NIDL) at Dublin City University (DCU).

The conference theme of ‘Transforming Lives and Societies’ was evident through an exciting and engaging conference programme which explored new models of open, online and digital learning as well as their impact and the wider context of the Sustainable Development Goals.

PDST Technology in Education was delighted to participate and to showcase its ongoing work in the area of online learning for teachers.

Madeleine Murray, National Coordinator for CPD Design, presented two PDST Technology in Education sessions at the conference:

1)    Developing a Digital Learning Plan for your School: An overview of this recently designed course which supported the national rollout by PDST of the Digital Learning Framework, including participant feedback and plans for the future.

2)    Measuring Impact of Summer Online CPD: An insight into how PDST Technology in Education measures impact of its summer online courses through a detailed follow on survey and an online course which provides teachers with the opportunity to reflect on and discuss their implementation of course content in their own classrooms.

In addition to the above, we jointly presented the following session with Margaret Farren and Yvonne Crotty, our colleagues in DCU’s International Centre for Innovation and Workplace Learning,

3)    Paving the Way to Online Teaching - Introduction to e-Tutoring Course: An overview of the 2016 jointly designed e-tutoring course which was made available on behalf of the Department of Education & Skills’ Inspectorate to develop the skills of tutors who facilitate online courses for primary teachers.
