Course Content

This course consists of four modules, with one assignment per module. Please be aware that the assignments require engagement and collaboration with your school colleagues in order to research and develop a contextualised digital learning plan, which is expected to take both time and advance planning over a period of at least four weeks and possibly more, depending on your school.

Module 1: Introduction to Digital Learning Planning

In this module, you will look at what digital learning looks like in the classroom and how a constructivist pedagogy which embeds digital technologies can offer new possibilities for learning, teaching and assessment. You will be introduced to the Digital Learning Framework for Schools (DL Framework) and the Digital Learning Planning Guidelines (DL Planning Guidelines). You will see how to use them to create an effective Digital Learning Plan that will enhance the embedding of digital technologies within learning, teaching and assessment in your school.

Module 2: Creating Your Vision for Digital Learning

In this module, you will look at some of the key considerations for establishing a team to lead the planning process and for creating your school’s vision for digital learning. This module also contains an activity during which you will conduct a school-based collaborative workshop to help you to create a vision statement developed and clarified through a process of shared reflection on the values, beliefs and aspirations of your school community.

Module 3: Gathering Data

In this module, you will examine how to use the Digital Learning Framework to determine the focus of your Digital Learning Plan. You will look at how to gather and analyse relevant evidence to help make informed decisions to enhance digital learning practices in your school. This module also contains a school-based activity during which you will gather evidence to see where you are in your school in relation to the standard or area on which you have decided to focus.

Module 4: Developing and Monitoring your Digital Learning Plan

In this module, you will look at how to set specific targets and determine actions that need to be taken to achieve them and improve digital learning practice in your school. You will also examine the key considerations for monitoring and evaluating the implementation of your DL Plan. This module also contains an activity during which you will set targets, specify how you expect to accomplish them and identify what resources you require to complete the task.
